CPE Unit Completion at Adventist Medical Center Manila

The Adventist Medical Center of Manila (AMCM) recently had a gathering in celebration of completion of first unit CPE. The CPE group at AMCM is under the AACPE— the first certifier of CPE in the Philippines. However, this specific group happened as an unusual partnership between AACPE and CPSP-Philippines. Those in a supervisory role in this group include Chaplains Jay Fajardo, Lemuel Arit, and Wanee Salayon— all from AACPE. Chaplain Paul Tabon (in the center above) served as the CPSP-Philippines supervisor.

As we near the 60th anniversary of CPE in the Philippines and the 100th anniversary of the birth of CPE (both occurring in 2025) it is good, we think, that we find ways to recognize and celebrate our unity of passion and spirit, while still honoring our diversity in structure and identity.

News from CPSP

As our name implies, we are a daughter organization of CPSP (College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy). Here are a couple of bits of news of CPSP.

#1. CPSP will be holding its annual plenary March 17-21, 2024. It will be held in Atlanta, GA, and representatives of CPSP-PH will be there, and have been asked to give a report at the event.

#2. CPSP has recently joined in a collaborative initiative between itself and Health Care Chaplaincy Network/Spiritual Care Association (HCCN/SCA). They are exploring ways to collaborate for the good of clinical pastoral training and clinical chaplaincy. (In recent months, we have been in conversation with AACPE, the first CPE/T organization in the Philippines. We also hope to find ways to collaborate in a similar manner in the Philippines.)

#3. CPSP now has a couple of improved ways to communicate with its members and others. One is their updated website (https://cpsp.life/). The other is their new electronic journal “Recovery of Soul.” It has not come out yet, but information on it is available at: https://cpsp.life/invitation-to-contribute-to-cpsps-recovery-of-soul-digital-magazine/
